did some knob-twittling today with my GK MB-112, including plugging into the active jack and turning on the contour button. Better. ramped down the treble quite a bit and kicked up the gain. Sound seems less attack-y... Steep learning curve here...

Yeah, I wonder about the MB-112. I do notice the heavy mid-range scoop. Do you have some ideas of other more useful amps for DB. I may drag my bass to my local shop for some A/B-ing. I'm not sure I really like the sound of the amp for my electric bass either, but that depends on the day...

3 Weeks Later... I find I don't want to plug in. Yes, the bass is louder, but not in a pleasing way. Too much string noise or attack noise. Yeah, I can play with a drummer now, but I never use the pickup for home practicing -- the woodiness of the instrument is just erased with the pickup.
