    Starting age

Not at all. I'm fifteen, and I started playing about a year ago, even though I had owned a bass and tried to pick it up for about seven years prior. It's better to start as young as possible, don't get me wrong, but nothing wrong with starting at this age. I see kids my age, or even younger, who...

Breaking in a New Bass - Stickers, Checking for Issues, etc.

Hi all, Some of you may have seen me complaining about my Bronco. It's finally been replaced, with a shiny new vintage white Deluxe Active J with a brown shell pickguard that I got at a damn good price. I was going to get an Affinity J, but they brought this up and the price wasn't too high...

My music taste surprises me sometimes

Honestly, not a big fan of U2. Clayton does have a few decent basslines I suppose, Matchmaking on a bass site? And, just an FYI, I'm not a guy. My picture is Scott Pilgrim, because I love those graphic novels and the movie and he plays a Rickenbacker and IMO, they're pretty good basses, save...

My music taste surprises me sometimes

It isn't, I just can't stand her voice. But someone posted a cover here that I just love. Black Keys and Jack White's stuff are great. But I would say, RHCP are better.

My music taste surprises me sometimes

I honestly thought that "All About the Bass" song was a parody of something at first.

My music taste surprises me sometimes

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I probably am, I'm not a lifelong fan of funk/soul. I'm not pretending to know anything about the genres.

My music taste surprises me sometimes

I was always told he was soul, so I kind of began to associate that funky sound with soul. Pickett, Sly & the Family Stone. I almost consider funk a subgenre of soul. Well, I listen to a lot of jazz and classical, too, reggae and electronic, I just didn't include that because my favorites are...

My music taste surprises me sometimes

I'm in high school. The music I see people enjoying is always either pop, hip-hop/rap, rock, or classic rock (I differentiate because a lot of the modern stuff - My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil, etc. isn't very good :/) And that's where my surprise comes in. I've developed a somewhat large...

    Nothing fixes string rattle

Thanks, JLS. I've figured out it is the tuning keys. I'll try the glue, but if that doesn't work, I'm not even going to bother replacing the pegs. I'm not putting anymore money into this POS, I'll save that for my new bass.

    Nothing fixes string rattle

It might not be the string. I'll take it back in today, as I'm not sure how well I trust myself with repairs of any kind.

    Nothing fixes string rattle

I'm at my breaking point with my Bronco. The same problem has been persisting for years, and I thought I finally had it fixed. As soon as my finger hits a string, there's this rattle. It only lasts for half a second, then I get a clear sound. It's most noticeable on the open strings, and as I...

    Why EADGBe (guitars)

Fifths descending. I honestly didn't notice B and e were odd, though, until I was tuning my guitar to itself, using the fifth fret.

    Why EADGBe (guitars)

Just to make chording easier? Hm. I expected an answer that had a lot more emphasis on theory.

    Why EADGBe (guitars)

I get that basses are tuned in fifths. E, A, D, G. At least, for standard tuning. But where do the B and e come in on guitars? Wouldn't C and G make more sense?

    seinfeld.

Noooo! That little bass lick in between scenes is the only thing I like about Seinfeld!
