I'm self-taught and don't read music either. I have been using my ears to replicate bass lines since I got my first bass. I play bass in a band consisting of my brother and sister and we back a singer who has pulled something similar to the singer you're backing and it is rarely a good idea.

Got it. What about reproducing that sound through my computer as I'm going to be making some youtube videos with my bass. I have a Behringer UMC204HD audio interface and a custom built computer that I can add whatever I want to it.
