What effect if any would antiferromagnetic stings have with ferrous alnico pups?

Because it is electrically conductive, a current is induced, as the string moves in the magnetic field. The induced current interacts with the field, to induce the current in the pickup coil. Copper is non-magnetic, but passing copper wire through a magnetic field (Generator), or passing a...

Titanium Alloy Strings..ehh anyone tried these?

Because the Titanium and Stainless Steel are electrically conductive, moving in a magnetic field induces a voltage, which interacts with the field... Copper is absolutely not magnetic, but passing copper wire through a magnetic field is how we generate most of the electricity in use...

    Strings of the Future!

I have run across designs using LEDs and detectors with string-vibration causing the variation in the amount of light, thus creating a signal for electronic sound. I have also seen a variation, using lit, light-conductive strings. There's a violin pickup that uses fixed magnets and the strings...

    Jazz Bass Wiring Help, Please

By the end of the week, I'll know exactly what I have. Then, I'll know more of what I can do with it. To me, the bass is the thing. I'll probably run RotoSounds, rework the electrics and carve a bone nut for it, like I did the Washburn Acoustic/Electric I had. I'll wing it. Seems to work...

    Jazz Bass Wiring Help, Please

My bad. They're supposed to be Double J's, according to one review. Been too long and I don't remember. I admit my ignorance and humbly apologize. My education is lacking. Been digging through so much stuff that I'm getting frazzled. Bass here, look at this house, where's the paperwork...

    Jazz Bass Wiring Help, Please

S/D Forums say the rings only have 2 wires to the regular controls... So, they hook-up with those limitations. Keep original type connections? Double Aargh!!! I HATE switching logic. Good thing I have a cold drink at hand! I've asked for a wiring diagram, but I presume that each switch...

    Jazz Bass Wiring Help, Please

Whatever works... Should be the original Yamaha soap-bars. 3 knobs. I think it's 1 vol and 2 tone, but don't quote me on that. One has a push feature that kicks the sound out... I really have forgotten a lot of stuff. I'm open to making it the next toy, you know? Split coil humbuckers is...

    Jazz Bass Wiring Help, Please

Seymour Duncan Triple Shot has them, two 2-position switches (maybe 3-position) S/D ays they're 'rocker switches', so I presume them to be 2-pos. Aaargh!

    Jazz Bass Wiring Help, Please

OK, I like that, but was planning to split the coils and hit some phasing. The more options the merrier. I admit, Sophomoric mistake... a 5-position switch is a 5-position switch, whether straight or rotary. Does the exact same job. Great call. For my own part: "Doh."

    Jazz Bass Wiring Help, Please

Newbie, to the forums, with wiring questions... Other options are welcome, too... It's been almost 30 years, since I last wired ANY bass (Not counting loose connections). What I did in the early '80s, I don't know how to do, anymore. Could use some Guru help. I've asked line6man and he...

    jazz bass rewiring/improvement

Have ya'll put any of this into diagrams? Probably the absolute weirdest job I've seen is the Bumblefoot Bass. Off the Searcy String Works Blog, or the Guitar Electronics 5-way switch stuff, for two humbuckers: http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/wiringresources.2_pickup_diagrams/ I'm...
