Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Confirmed -- that I just needed to move the jumper from P201 to P200 and use a US power cord. It is kicking arse into two 15" cabs. Thanks so much to everyone for the help!

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Right on, @abarson. I heard back from Eden support: "All that is changed is the jumper[.]" So no fuse change is required. AWEsome. :hyper: Props to Eden for being cool about my desire to make the change myself even if not officially recommending it. That sort of thing makes me...

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

I let the cat out of the bag to Eden support that I am doing this on my own despite their initial reply and would just like to confirm the fuse type to use along with moving the jumper and replacing the power cord. Let's see how that goes. It's funny how different companies handle...

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

I should have suspected this could get hairy with no significant background in analog circuits. I am good with software and computer-hardware hairy and understand digital circuits. This is different, though -- very interesting and extremely humbling. Anyway, I appreciate the thoughtful...

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Am I correct in thinking that the only things to change are possibly moving the jumper from P201 to P200, changing the power cord, and maybe changing the fuse? Are there other changes that could be needed (e.g. jumpers on both P200 and P201(!?) or something else unmentioned to this point)...

I was thinking the same thing.

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

I looked at the board more closely and think it supports your sense that the fuse may not need to change, @JKos. See the attached pic.

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Understood, but great callout. My problem here is a benefit re the point you made in that my caps have nothing to discharge yet. I still haven't plugged in the head through all this, want to be clear on the fuse before I do (at which point I will tuck the anti-static wrist strap away for sure).

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Thanks, @JKos. I have checked the unit and looked at its documentation for clarification on the fuse to use but have not yet found anything. Your explanation makes sense if the stated max power consumption of 600 watts is accurate (as I expect), though. If I can't find anything looking at the...

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

I got a reply from Eden (Marshall US) support, and they confirmed my TN501 can be converted to use US power; however, they said they can only recommend that I have an authorized service center convert it for safety reasons. Um, yeah, I am not going to go that route but glad to get confirmation...

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

That's very nice of you to mention, @bbh, but I think I am on the path to a solution without a step-up transformer now. I hear ya re small size and serious weight, though. I have a few Tripp Lite buck-boost transformers that come to mind. Awesome that you have a good step-up transformer...

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Now this makes sense to me after rereading your comment and looking at the pics I shared again, @JKos. I got stuck on the form I know jumpers to take in PCs (which, duh, would have to be much more substantial here or melt)...and pin 1 of P200 rather than P201, didn't even notice P201 at first...

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Looking at this more closely, I suspect the internal power connection to the circuit board needs to change from P100 to P200. Both P100 and P200 are two-pin connectors. The two pins of P100 fit sockets 1 and 3 of the Molex plug coming from the main power leads, whereas the two pins of P200 are...

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Thanks, @JKos. I don't see a jumper on pins per se, just pins I could jump. I added an additional pic of what I see inside from a different angle to my initial post-check reply to @abarson for clarity.

Step-up Tranformer for European Eden TN501?

Good point re doubling the fuse amperage regardless how to halve the input voltage, @Wasnex. I don't see a schematic inside the cover of my TN501 but am encouraged by apparently finding the jumper pins that @abarson suspected.
