Well you are right. The schematic said B-15NF from 1-'66, but from your description I still think it is a double baffle. It has the 8 oblong ports on the speaker baffle and then there is another baffle that the grill cloth is mounted to. Unless I'm missing something that is the double baffle...

The Altec magnet is ceramic. where the JBL's are alnico. I would think it would have an effect on the tone. As far as power handling. The Altecs are rated 100w, where the JBLs are rated at 50w or 60w I believe.

I think the original SVT 810 had CTS speakers with alnico magnets. They are probably hard to come by/too expensive for my needs. I also think their power rating isn't high enough for my purposes either. I believe the 1st generation cabs were only rated at 200watts total for all 8 10s. Not sure...
