Can't really go wrong with a 421. Another option is the Cascade Fathead! Ribbon mic. Very versatile. Easy to damage if you don't know what to do with one. $200.

Yep. It looks like it'll be around $3K. Which is a used Alembic. I'm on the fence. I play a lot of gigs all over the place in all kinds of different climates. I like the idea of graphite because set it and forget it. I feel that a series bass and an Epic, et all are totally different animals...
