Communicating with a drummer and better understanding of rhythm.

Thank for all the help. All this stuff really helped a lot. Also I feel that I should mention that I don't intend to control every single beat the drummer plays. Generally they ask for feedback on the stuff they've come up with, and they also ask advice if they're stuck when coming up with...

Communicating with a drummer and better understanding of rhythm.

Hi, I'm part of a band and we're currently writing songs. I would like to have better communication with the drummer. I have a feeling that a better understanding of rhythm would help me with this, but I think I should be able to research this myself. However if you have a good place to start...

Buying my first bass amp for gigging.

I know not to use instrument cable. But if an amp had been used with instrument cable, would it be damaged?

Buying my first bass amp for gigging.

I just asked asked if the amp (peavey firebass) came with a speaker cable and he said no, and that he's used a standard lead and that works fine. I presume he means a regular instrument cable that connects the bass to the amp. If i get speaker cable will i be fine , or is there some...

Buying my first bass amp for gigging.

It's something I did not know. I'll look into it.Thanks very much. Before i go looking (on my phone now, and it's awkward to surf) can you just tell me one thing (yes or no answer will do me): do some ''odd'' cabs match better with each other than others? And I'm not seeing many 210s, a few 115...

Yeah I am. So I will probably be going for the firebass (but not ruling out the nitrobass) and just wanted to be sure on one thing: >If the head is powerful than the cab, just keep it turned down. And will I know immediately if it's too loud?

No I don't think they're tube. Sometimes solid state amps are have tubes though? Anyway one has spring reverb and is fun to kick. And why is that? I'm still learning. It seems to be the most common configuration. There are some 1x15's floating around too.

Buying my first bass amp for gigging.

The Dude is selling his Peavey Firebass 700 head and a 4x10 Cab. Is this the one to tie my room together? He's asking for 280 for the head. I'm sure I can get him down to 250. I just realised The Big Lebowski came out on blu-ray and I haven't gotten around to getting it yet. I'm still not...

Buying my first bass amp for gigging.

Thanks again for the replies. I think both are 4ohm, but it's not specified. I asked the seller. From what I see elsewhere, the 2x10 is 4ohms and the 4x10 is 8 and 4. And I'm curious too:D. If you's asked me last week I'd have said something like alternative rock or something. We're...

Buying my first bass amp for gigging.

Thanks for the replies. Leaning towards the Peavey at the moment. The 2x10 and 4x10 cabs seems to give a good variety of combinations. Is the price too high though? I'm still shopping around but that seems the best deal. I'm sure I'll get 50euro of for.. travel or something. Prices on ebay seem...

Buying my first bass amp for gigging.

Hi. So I'm looking to buy a bass amp. I'm in a band and we have a gig. It's our first gig, and all this is a completely new experience to me. There's a PA there, but is that the usual thing? I've looked here and elsewhere for info and I've decided to make this topic. I will continue to look...
