    Bent plates are part of the sound. High mass are great for more contemporary stuff but the quick transient muting of a bent plate is a huge part of the Motown sound.

    Squier, Fender or whatever, this series was different because the wood was crafted in the USA and not Japan or China or Mexico or Korea or Indonesia. They all make fine instruments but at least the one I have is stellar.....and not for sale.

    There are some great articles on this topic. The Fender with small Squier Series were American necks and bodies finished in Mexico with lower quality hardware. So not a Squier at all.

    I have a Fender Squier Series Strat from the 90s and it's every bit as good as current Standard American Strat. These are not Squiers and in fact are quite special and a neat bit of Fender history.

    Have a used set of Alembic PUs I wanted to test as the seller was not sure if they worked. Got a Belcat just to try and it's sounds amazing. No need for upgrade. Was really apprehensive as a lot of stuff I got recently was garbage but these are hands down great.

    Good progress today. Finally got to hear it and it's pretty amazing. Using a cheap pre with the PUs but they still are ridiculous. Happiness! Next some kind of guard and truss rod cover.

    The original poly is already super thick. Paint on top is not a great idea.
