I don't bother refinishing unless there is something wrong with the original finish. Just too much work. That one would look pretty sweet with a brown tort pickguard.

My 89 Fender Fretless P Bass A/E is 7.19-lb.

I don't think the old Fenders get below 8 pounds. My 73 fretless Fender P Bass is 8.03-lb fully equipped. That is without the fretwire and with extra routing for a neck pickup (since removed).
