I don't really care for natural, burst, dye, transparent, or translucent finishes. I just think solid colors are more me.

I played a few Wine Tasting Rooms, and was specifically told to play ONLY a wooden bass.
Their reasoning was that a solid color was reminiscent of a fiberglass Corvette, and not an image a Beemer, Rolls and Jag crowd would tolerate.
I bought an Ibanez SR500 Mahogany to please them. It was a good bass, but my Fender Deluxe Jazz sounded the same, so I sold the SR here in Montana for a bit more than the new price I originally paid for it.
Win-win for me.
These days it either says Fender or Tuxedo on the headstock or I won't own it. So, yeah.... i love my Fender....uh, .....Corvettes ..... and my own logo'd basses best.

I have a couple of old natural Rics (mapleglo) that I think are gorgeous, I also like the old factory natural Fenders.
I actually do not think that you have such a bass and this entire thread is a ruse.

They came on Sunday 'bike rides' where there were sidecars with wives or girlfriends and scarves and goggles and martinis in thermoses.
Nope - those were Beemers and RR's and some D- and E-Jags and an occasional Morgan. No Harleys. No Kawasakis or Hondas.
A mixed bag all right!
Saw a Norton Commando and a J.A.P which wasn't quite a car - wasn't quite a motorcycle both at the same time.
Rich people coming for cheap wine tasting and cheeses parties.
What's funny about that is as a member of two local sports car clubs, and the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) and owner of a '79 MG B Roadster and a '78 MG Midget ...Corvettes (even though I love the 60's and 70's style Corvette body style) are referred to as 'plastic pigs' because of the fiber glass and how they are more really muscle cars than sports cars and almost of a different size scale. No offense to Corvette owners....just stating a snobbish custom
The other thing that is frustrating for those who own sports cars and sport touring cars is how many people do refer to BMW automobiles incorrectly as 'Beemers'....it appears to be of a generational type of misnomer
Incidentally, the parties I go to on occasion have great wine and great cheese and at least classy looking basses with wood grain or at least black with white binding and chrome when a band is actually hired for the occasion...just saying. Lots of nice wineries popping up in South Central and Southeastern PA.....
But then again, I'm also at home driving in my beat up '89 Toyota pickup with 221,000 miles on it going to a keg party - pool party with sloppy arse bar-b-que at my buddy's house who I work with who actually has a '70 Corvette while his son has an '80 Corvette and we're only listening to classic rock on the radio.
Gotta cover all the angles!

In Austria they say BMW stands for "Bayrischer Mist Wagen", which means Bavarian Garbage Truck!
You shouldn't feel like you have to ask. You're going to get all kinds of opinions, but the only one that matters is yours. If you want to repaint your natural bass, then go for it. Nothing wrong with that at all.
But since you asked: I don't care for natural finish either. I only have one bass with a transparent finish, and it's blueburst. All my other basses are painted.
I own a Natural Finish bass. Not a fan of just it really. Needs to have some color to it. I have a bass with an Amber Finish and other translucent finishes and I love that. Looks too pale.
