I agree with @thedaemon, The Morrisist is the better of the two songs. Seems like the tempos are a bit faster, the playing is a lot busier and not utilizing space as much, and the guitar tone is a lot thinner. I also feel like Al is starting to "quote" himself a little too much I'm hearing lots of lines that are variations of previous songs and I can't quite place it but the main verse groove in The Morrisist I feel like I've heard in a previous Om or Sleep song.

I didn't think it sounds like Om per se, but it leans that way. I dig the Morrisist more than the first single.

I will check out the full record ofc. My expectations are tempered tho.

Soooo many Sleep riffs are in the same key and use basically the same couple notes. (Lots of 0-10-12) The new stuff even more so, so I agree with you there. Al's riffs tend to be very similar. Seems like the farther along in the short discography you go, the more that is the case.

Also not a huge fan of the vocals/lyrics. Al's delivery since the Sciences has been his Om delivery - monotone semi-chanted and wordier.

Lyrically everything has funneled over time into solely mad libs of pop sci-fi, weed, Iommi and adding -ist to random words. The lyrics seem less sensical on these first 2 singles, which makes it hard for me to believe the record has anything like a narrative (which maybe I assumed it would, based on the tie-in comic)

We finally plugged it to my Orange Terror Bass’s power section and that solved the volume problem. But yeah, no way to use it in a loud band as a standalone. I’d be curious to hear what it sounds like with an older bass cab with higher efficiency speakers. Might be able to coax some more volume out of those versus modern neo bass speakers.

So I'm still new to pedals and I have some questions.

I have a Green Russian EHX Reissue PI and a Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie B as well as my newest edition an Earthquaker Devices Blumes. I really like the super low end that the Russian has, I love the clean blend that the Pickle Pie has and now I love the Overdrive that I was missing with the Blumes. I feel like the Pickle Pie's fuzz is too clean precise and not nasty enough. The Russian has that great fat bottom end but doesn't have a clean blend and I'd really like to be able to tweak it further. Without buying extra pedals, but perhaps swapping out a new pedal, what thoughts do you have to introduce some nastiness back into the chain while keeping that bottom end? I guess I like the guitar tone from Electric Wizard a bit, I'm not sure who's tone I'm trying to sound like, but I haven't found what I'm looking for. Now that I've got the Overdrive pedal, looks like I was looking for OD and not Fuzz for awhile haha.

It might get louder, but it was dimed anyways, so I wouldn't bet my money on it.
It was plenty loud plugged to a 500 watt class D power amp. I'd say these little Sunns are simply underpowered.
In love with the overdrive, though.

For bass overdrive, I made a habit out of using a ln EHX Hot Wax dual OD. Those hold low end together surprisingly well and stacking the modes can get you into some aggressive territory.

Unfortunately I’m not familiar with the music stores in spite of my connections to that area. However, you owe it to yourself to tour the Stax Records museum if you have an hour and a half to kill.

Dolly's gone...hot dang that lady was a force to be reckoned with

The ska/two-tone guys I've been playing with decided just a couple of weeks ago to do only reggae/ska covers of her songs, this is a little eerie to me

I need to work up an arrangement of A Message To You Jolene
