    The HandBox Amplification Thread

Yes. It sounds like the sound is compressed and strangely non-bass. I don't know. Maybe it's a problem with my bass? I have a Musicman StingRay so it's active. Maybe the electronics in the bass flatten the dynamics and don't give a fat sound? Maybe the pickups are too close/far? I have no idea...

    The HandBox Amplification Thread

Hi guys! How do you set the gain and volume to achieve the optimal signal and dynamics in the R400? Many tutorials say that you have to set the volume to 0 at the beginning and turn up the gain until the preamp starts to overdrive. But the "clip" light doesn't light up even when I turn up the...

The Ken Smith Club, Part 2

Cause when you hold 1st and 15th fret 1/16 between 7-9 is enormous gap

The Ken Smith Club, Part 2

So he doesn't hold 1st fret? Copy/paste from his forum: " check your neck relief, press down the E or B string (lowest on that bass) at the 1st and 15th frets at the same time using 2 hands. Do this with the Bass on your lap in playing position, not on a bench. Look at the space between the 7th...

The Ken Smith Club, Part 2

I have a question if you don't mind. Ken daid on his forum that he likes 1/16 neck relief on 7-9 fret on his basses. But how?! 1/16 is about 1.6mm! If I would setup bass like that I would probably destroy my neck! What is wrong with it? I'm not American so maybe inches are not my thing but...

High Pass Filter (HPF) and Low Pass Filter (LPF) Mega Thread

Great info! Thanks! But I would rather see LPF to 10-12k at least. But 8k is ok for most basses anyway. Trickfish has nice HPF/LPF pedal but 38hz and 24db/oct slope may be too much. Even on 4 strings. Depends on your rig.

High Pass Filter (HPF) and Low Pass Filter (LPF) Mega Thread

It makes me wonder... So what kind of HPF or LPF musicians use in the past? Even today we have limited choice when it comes to filters. Some audio devices has HPF and/or LPF built in them but how many? Avalon preamp maybe? Maybe some other preamps but still you can count them on one hand... And...

High Pass Filter (HPF) and Low Pass Filter (LPF) Mega Thread

In most speakers LPF is not so necessary as HPF. But still you can ex. shape a little bit high end of your cab with treble shelf with addition of LPF. You add a little bit of highest freq but still not all of them above 4k but to the freq of HPF. It's the same proccess with low end. You can add...

High Pass Filter (HPF) and Low Pass Filter (LPF) Mega Thread

Looks like quite strong HPF/LPF pedal. 38 to 15k and 24db/oct? I don't know but looks like sometimes can be too much imo.

High Pass Filter (HPF) and Low Pass Filter (LPF) Mega Thread

Personally I would use what I know and what sound the best. If you know exact settings of Broughton pedal then maybe use it instead of Ampeg's HPF/LPF? Or just experiment what suits you better? Some things are "better" than others ;) I heard that it's not the best solution to use 2 LSF or HSF at...

Pondering Some New Ideas, Need Some Input

What about 4 band parametric or at least semi parametric for every band? Like on ex. SSL console? Graphic eqs are awful, at least for my experience. Definitely HPF/LPF knobs too. I guess less is more and great, versatile as possible gear is a thing. Same with cabs.

    Measuring Frequency Response

Thank you so much! I appreciate your quick and detailed answers! So What can I do with that cab then? Changing speakers for better ones? But which ones? Or just sell it and buy different cab(s)? Which cab should I looking for good low end for 5 string with good mids and not harsh treble? Some...

    Measuring Frequency Response

OK... :roflmao: But could you answer me how low that cab can go? 2x Eminence Beta 12A + 1' Neo STX t.9.250.8.ph tweeter Triangle port with 15x15x21 cm + 19 cm deep/33 to the back wall of the cabinet. The cab has H=70cm W=43cm and D=40 cm. Thanks!
