If using "crushing" as a synonym to "brutal":

They use the same style, but are press-on for 6mm shaft pots, whereas the USA versions are for 6.35mm(1/4") shaft pots, and have two set screws. The euro versions feel a bit cheaper, but that could just be due to the lighter weight - the USA versions have a metal insert.
