    peavey or swr

I'm looking at buying two different amps, Peavey BAM and the SWR Workingman 2x10C. I've read excellent reviews of the BAM here but there is less on the 2x10c though a lot on SWR in general, mostly discussing cheap combos. BAM I can get for $400 and the SWR for $350. I know like most other...

    Fender gurus...construction question please

Plywood is multi-layer thin laminated wood, generally two 3/4" sheets glued together to make a bass body for 14 or so layers. I guess a better question would be how to identify an authentic Fender jazz body.

    Fender gurus...construction question please

I was just wondering if Fender ever built jazz basses with plywood bodies. I just bought a "Fender" with serial number CNxxx and while the neck looks right, the body is plywood and there's no markings anywhere on the body. How does one identify an authentic Fender body? Opinions?

thanks ya'll. I would have bought it when I was there, but I'm not a huge Fender guy and didn't know the year until I got here to check it out online. By that time, the place was closed. I searched here for the same question and there wasn't one. I also did a search in the sales section but...

    Modify the sheet music??

This sheet music was written in F# so the majority of "F"s are F#. There are several segments of this score that are E, F, F#, G which I hadn't questioned are not an issue in my mind (feeble with this subject matter that it is)

    Modify the sheet music??

Thank you all for responses. The example I used was the only one I definitively remembered. The notes from the sheet music were exact however, that's why I asked. The question was intended to be more general based on reading the walking bass lines thread and Carol Kaye's chord progression...

    Modify the sheet music??

First thing is I don't have the actual sheet music, but it is something written by someone here on TB. The song is Autumn Leaves. However, this question really applies to any piece of sheet music. Basically, is it appropriate (OK) to change the notes used. rationale: I read, again...

    "Useless" knowledge?

(I agree with you) As a lifelong student of a lot of different things and an educator for many many years, I KNOW HOW I LEARN. While that may not be the same for all or even most students, it is important for the teacher to know how their student learns to effectively present lessons. Part...

    HELP!!! Restart and reload

Thanks for the advice guys. MalcolmAmos, I've read most of your suggestions in this forum and I glean a lot of good stuff from them. I intend to find another teacher. I can read tab. I've read and been through a bunch of chord stuff via studybass website and have read through, though not...

    HELP!!! Restart and reload

I've been "playing" now for 4 months and taking lessons though I realized yesterday that I didn't start at my age (51) to be frustrated, exasperated and not wanting to pick up my bass. I've been through Hal Leonard's book 1 and another beginner's book that I have. I can sight read and have a...
