Fender gurus...construction question please

I was just wondering if Fender ever built jazz basses with plywood bodies.

I just bought a "Fender" with serial number CNxxx and while the neck looks right, the body is plywood and there's no markings anywhere on the body.

How does one identify an authentic Fender body?

Opinions?

Plywood is multi-layer thin laminated wood, generally two 3/4" sheets glued together to make a bass body for 14 or so layers.

I guess a better question would be how to identify an authentic Fender jazz body.
