Rotosound RS665LD, 5-string set. impressions? samples?

Rotosound Stainless Steel B strings are good. You might be able to find a .135 gauge as a single at BassStringsOnline.com. Gary Willis is a big proponet for a heavier B string on his basses. Sometimes playing an E on above on the 5th string has a nice timbre.

    ProSteels vs. Swing 66

Try Rotosounds. They go perfect with a Jazz Bass. I started using 40-95 as opposed to 45-105. To me, they sound more punchier. IMO.

Killed a new set of Stainless DRs in one 3 hour club gig

It seems like DR strings die faster than when I was using them in the '90s. DR Lo-Riders Nickels use to last a long time. But now, lucky if I can get a weeks worth out of them.

Stanley uses DR Hi Beams 40,60,75,95 on his Alembics. www.DRStrings.com. He was a Rotosound user for years up until around the time he was touring with Marcus Miller & Victor Wooten.

That's funny you say that Kamatori, because to me, Fat Beams sound a little more aggressive in the lower mids and a tad bit stiffer. Hi Beams, to me are more tamer in the low mids. Like I said in the first post, a lot of people do say they can't tell a difference. I talked to someone at DR...

Rotosound Swing Bass 66 & Fender - perfect match!

I fit all my Jazz Basses with Rotosound Swing Bass. I've noticed a set of 95-40 has a more punchier sound than their standard gauge. Though I Iike the 45-105. I personally think being labeled as fret eaters is 1. they were the first round wound string. And 2. people were putting them on...

Which DR stainless steel strings have more of a low midrange tone them in your opinion? Lo-Riders or Fat Beams? I can definitely hear the difference between Hi Beams and Fat Beams. A few people posted they couldn't tell a difference. To me, Fat Beams have more of a mid growl than Hi Beams...

    Straight Neck

That's a cool diagram megafiddle. I forgot, is Fender's specs .014 of relief?

    Straight Neck

. 014 was a guesstimate. One of my Jazz Basses, it's closer to . 006. I never really measure. I just sight it. But, my question is, say the G string is 1/16" at the 12th fret, no matter how straight I have the neck, it's going to be slightly higher at the last fret. Even by a couple...

    Straight Neck

I set up all my basses. For the last 30 years from your experience mactac. I usually hold down the E or B string at the first and last fret and eye ball it and tap it at the 8th fret. Just enough so a business card will slid through. I do us measurements on the strings. Like 5/64" or 1/16"...

    Straight Neck

Sorry if this has been covered. My question is: if you set your neck as straight as possible. Like, putting a capo on the first fret, holding down the last fret and using a feeler of. 014. Set the E string to around 3/32" at the 12th fret. The last fret, 20th or 24th, is going to be...

SOLD Fodera NYC Deluxe 5 Spalted Maple

Also, I played with a Fodera with a Pope preamp. On that particular bass, the pickup blend acted more like a pickup selector then blending the pickups. If im in center detent and roll it towards the bridge, there's no blend. It just goes straight to bridge pickup. Is that a Pope thing?

    Fodera Tom Kennedy Signature Bass

$6750. I like his tone because he uses the bridge pickup a lot and it's real punchy.
