    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 7

FWIW - the guy at Kala seemed very helpful. He said they generally only see this where someone installs the steel wrapped nylons or some other metal string that imparts more tension.

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 7

Yeah thats what I thought too If it had a truss rod I was going to buy it. With no truss rod I'd be fighting intonation issues. I could shim the neck at the neck pocket but the relief issue would still be there and with such a short scale bending it back with heat & pressure would be iffy.

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 7

I made an inquiry to Kala, this bass does not have a truss rod. It looks like a nice bass but it definitly has a signifiant forward bow that will need to be addressed. while the rubber strings are low tension, the additional gap will cause intonation issues. I'm passing on this one. Its...

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 7

Hey all I'm looking at a solidbody U-Bass, California made. Its an older one as its got a 9v battery in the cavity Photos indicate its got a fair degree of neckbow or high action. Maybe I'm naive but I was thinking there would not be much tension with rubber strings. Seller indicates just...

    Show us your G&L

I keep DR Legends flatwounds on both my G&L's to tame some of the raw edge that the MFD pickups inherently have. I generally run the 1505 in parralel still get plenty of tonal articulation just through how close to the pickup (or in some cases close to the end of the neck) I play. Its a great...

    Richard Cousins

Saw Richard Cousins last night playing in support of the Robert Cray Band at the Scottish Rite in Collingswood, NJ. Very enjoyable if short show. They played for about an hour and half with a 2 song encore. I thought Richards playing was good, nothing flashy but he kept the rhythm alive for...

I Appreciate all the comments in the thread. Certainly loopers can potentially be allot more advanced than I ever realized. I'm probably going to either to the Boss RC300 or the Sheeran unit. Its not happening this week for sure. Too many home repairs on the to-do list to be distracted by...

Thanks - Several have commented this about the ease of use factor with the RC500. I'm stsrting to lean more toward the Sheeran Looper + I know the Boss build quality is great - but if its too complicated It wont even get used. Thats the way it seems to go for me. I deal with complex things at...
