    Ampeg BA-115HP Users Need Opinions

Here's my experience with them: 1. Get the MIA (first year only, I think). Chinese ones have rattle problems. 2. Plenty of power if you let the pa do the work. If you're trying to fill a medium sized club, you'll need more amp. I've played mine outdoors for 3000 people, but was in the pa...

    Hughes and Kettner

A local music store has a couple of Hughes and Kettner bass amps. I love my SS H&K guitar amp. Anyone have any experience with their bass amps?

What was your first amp (old guys only) Pt 2

My first amp was a Kasino 100 watt combo with 2 15's, which I paid $100 for in 1981. Huge. Shortly after I got it, I picked up a kustom 200 head and ran the 2 X 15 cabinet with it after removing the Kasino head. Played that rig for years, no telling how many gigs I played with it. Replaced...

Prototyping a new bass...with your help!

Also, it should come out of the box setup with fairly low action. I hate to pick up a bass in the store and it's hard to play. I automatically adjust what I'm willing to pay by $50 since I'm gonna have to get it setup. I realize that there are environmental factors that affect the setup, but...

Prototyping a new bass...with your help!

I really like the P-jazz setup, like the G&L sb2. The thing that I think is missing on the market, i.e. a "niche" is a reasonably priced bass (under $1,000) that plays well and is versatile. For me, going for function over form is key. I don't really care as much about what it looks like as...

Help me not destroy my GK amp

+1 on the a/b box. I use two amps in my guitar rig with an a/b box. Much less trouble, and fairly inexpensive.

How much watts do I need?

I also agree with this. Go with the 200 watt 115 combo, then turn down if it's too loud. That way, you have plenty of presence and bass response, even at lower volumes. I once had a sound man ask me to turn up. I told him to turn it up in the PA, it was loud enough where I was standing.

How much watts do I need?

All of this is true, but for basics, if the amp is solid state, even if the preamp is tube, you need at least 200 watts imho to get solid bass. Another general rule is: add the watts of all guitarists in the group's rigs, and double it. In other words, if you're playing with two guitars using...

    The official Ibanez Blazer/Roadstar Club

Oh, and my roommate, who was in aerospace at UF, made a brass copy of the plastic nut on one of their machines a few months after I got it, which has been on it since.
