    What is the frequency of low E on a 4 string?

    The thread has a lot of basic (you could say, uh, "fundamental" :)) physics, electronics and acoustics information; that info doesn't change over decades. Products and their related technologies can change in that sort of time frame, but the relationships among physical and electrical elements...

    Jerome Harris Tears it up on ABG: "Look to the Black Wall" Live at Birdland with Paul Motian's Electric Bebop

    Bob's mention of "hootenany" brought to my mind this jazzy-and-folks tune by my dear guitarist colleague Marvin Sewell; I played my Taylor AB-1 ABG on his album;

    Jerome Harris Tears it up on ABG: "Look to the Black Wall" Live at Birdland with Paul Motian's Electric Bebop

    Yes, my 4-string Steinberger XL-2A is my go-to solid-body bass. The fact that it fits in overhead bins even on small airplanes takea away a ton of the stress of jazz-level touring--plus I like how it sounds.

    Jerome Harris Tears it up on ABG: "Look to the Black Wall" Live at Birdland with Paul Motian's Electric Bebop

    Walter Woods Amps History and Development

    Can anyone here verify the specs of the potentiometers of the Walter Woods Electroacoustic? Mine has a two-channel preamp (so sixteen pots) and a mono power amp; a number of the pots are scratchy, and one even is intermittent: as it's turned there's no signal at a certain spot, then lots of...

    By the way, I'll offer a slight correction to @Bob_Ross's report of seeing me playing a Klein bass. I do play a Taylor AB-1 acoustic bass guitar, which noted guitar builder Steve Klein designed for the Taylor company (they made them for about ten years); that may be what Bob saw. To my...

    Should I send it back? Opinions, please!

    It looks to me like that gouge won't be felt while playing (fingers will be on the string--ideally just behind the intended fret--and the E and A strings are thick enough to usually keep the fingertips off of the wood of the fretboard). If the instrument feels and sounds good, those...

    @abarson is correct; that's a Michael Kelly Rick Turner MKB4SB acoustic bass guitar, no longer in production. For a while Turner licensed his [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] design to the Michael Kelly company for them to market a Korean-built lower-cost model (it actually has the same D-Tar...
