True, or just push out the alnico pole pieces with steel poles slowly. Or use a small screwdriver or ball point pen to careful push them out, and insert the steel pole pieces one at a time.

Are there any ceramic single coil tele pickups out there? I'm having difficulty finding one, before any of you tells me to buy alnico, kindly go somewhere else. I am one of the few that prefers the sound of a ceramic pickup over a alnico. Thanks.

Ah, okay then. I still want to be able to blend them in if I choose to like in jazz basses. While being able to use them both separately, I want to have more tone variety instead of just sliding the tone knob or changing strings. Edit: On second thoughts it might be a dumb idea to do that...

I mentioned that there will be an extra volume pot. 2 volume pots for each pickup.

Is it possible to cut the wire connecting both of the p bass pickups and wire the 2 individual pickups with 2 seperate volume pots like in jazz basses? I am considering trying this experiment out.
