    Backbeat G2 Issues

Be careful with the provided cable. The first one snapped off when trying to remove it from the G2. They sent another no problem. I've been much more careful, but the sheath of the wire is now slipping away from the jack end on the G2 side, and started to expose wires. I now use a 2 ft double L...

    Blend Pot cutting volume

So I'll make this quick. I've built several basses over the last 2 years, 3 different models, all toting basically the same electronics and hardware combos. They sound great, but couldn't figure out why the overall output was not as high as other basses, even basses I own personally. Quick...

Mike Pope Flexcore Blend Pot-Zero to 60?

A while back I installed a Mike Pope Preamp for a client, and just recently he called saying the same thing. That when adjusting the pickup blend, the change was like falling off of a cliff, versus rolling down a hill. I've been doing a little research on it, but i haven't found a possible...

Did my drummer really just do that .....

Too many sub factors to be considered. However, there have been times that I've had to be the "tapper", whether from the drums or bass, just because constant eye contact, or at least repetitive eye contact, is imperative. I try my best to only involve myself in situations where that is never an...

PROJECT: MIM Jazz gets Deluxe upgrades

Try Audere Audio pres. They sound amazing on jazz basses. I've used them on two already and both came out awesome. They now have a noise canceling feature that quiets the bass down to nothingness. On both projects, I coupled the Audere Audio preamp with Bartolini pickups... (SN- I don't care for...

Only half of the pickups work

Hey David, once again you were spot on. I tried attaching them to ground first. I did get highs, but lost everything in active mode. As soon as I hooked it into the hot, the bass came alive. It sounds amazing. The thing that is confusing with this set up, is I'm using an 18v Bart pre, one batt...

Only half of the pickups work

So I didn't get to work on the bass tonight, but I did get to look back at the original circuit board. I looked at the solder side of the board, traced the lines. Turns out it is tied to the red lead from the battery, andis the first contact in the line. So that's promising. I'll try to get into...

Only half of the pickups work

They were. They were grouped to one connection. The problem is the original preamp was a circuit board that did not have that particular post labeled, as well as most of the other connections. That basically caused me to have to figure most of it out by previous experience and guestimation. I...

Only half of the pickups work

They are the original pickups for the bass. Specifically what kind they are, im really not sure. The reds aren't currently connected to anything. I will try them to ground shortly.

Only half of the pickups work

That sounds very plausible. I guess the problem I would have, if that is the case, is that these are soapbar pickups that are sealed underneath. I have no "safe" idea as to how to access the magnets inside. What you described sounds exactly what im dealing with.

Buddy asked me for my rate, and I dont know what to charge!!

Well, if ur gonna talk charging, here's my thoughts from experience. 1. If its a friend you trade favors with, free is cool, gas and a piece of chicken and a cup of juice at most 2. If its a friend you tend to do more favors for than receiving favors, and its his budget, i'd lean more towards...
