    Ampeg svt cl -15db input

I'll give this a try, although the input jack looks to be clean when looking inside with a torch, i never get any crackles or weird noises when fiddling with the jack when its inserted, i'll give it a try though. Do i need to remove the input jack to do this?

    Ampeg svt cl -15db input

Just tried another instrument and cable, no difference.. re-discovered my old p-bass though, forgot how good is sounds! Tried comparing both inputs with the gain turned right up, no difference. The amp still sounds good to my ears, just a bit puzzled why there is no volume drop using the...

    Ampeg svt cl -15db input

Just tried swapping the first preamp tube and still no noticeable difference in volume between the normal and padded input. Also tried swapping the second preamp tube and same result. I'm wondering if this is the reason i am having to turn the amp up a tad higher than usual to get the same...

    Ampeg svt cl -15db input

Thanks for the replies, i'll try swapping the first preamp tube and see what happens. That info on tubes is very helpful, not had to replace the output tubes yet but know what to look for now if i ever do.

    Ampeg svt cl -15db input

Hi, i'm looking for some advice on my ampeg svt cl. Over the last few months i've noticed that i'm running the gain/master a tad higher than usual to get the same volume, even at home i've noticed a slight difference. Could this be the output tubes starting to wear out? I've also just...

American Vintage Reissue's - Show 'em if ya got 'em.

Just picked up a new American vintage 62'reissue in oly white a couple of weeks ago, the best bass i have owned so far. The string spacing & wider neck took a bit of getting used to but it feels like home now. I will try & get some pic's up later. Only one problem i'm finding with it, the E...

    1981 P Bass, opinions needed.

There is a return policy, the bass can be returned if the condition is not as described, the guy is really helpful & says i could also return it if i'm not totally happy with it.

Thanks for the replies. The neck pocket i'm told is a snug fit. I do like the sound of these basses, i was not aware that the body was ash, thanks for the info. I still don't know the weight yet, that could be the deciding factor. Here's some more pic's...

How wide is the neck at the nut on the early 80's P's? I think my 2001 am series P is 42mm, i'm fairly comfortable with that. I'll try & find out the weight, it will be used for gigging but we don't gig too often.

Wow, was 1981 really that bad for fender ? This info really puts me off buying unseen.

    1981 P Bass, opinions needed.

Thanks for the replies. I've just recieved some photos of the frets & they look good to me, what do you think ? 1st & 7th frets shown, 12th fret looks good too. I'm told the truss rod adjusts freely both ways & works fine. I know what you are saying about trying before buying but nothing...

Has anyone had problems with the truss rods on this era of fender basses ? any other issues ? I really like the sound of these basses compared to the newer models, even the 08's i've tried. Pete.

The frets are very good i'm told & the truss rod is ok, although i never thought that it could be maxed out ! thanks, i will check on that one. I currently have a 2001 American series P bass but i really like the sound/punch you seem to get from some of the 70's basses, this one sounds the same...
