Will a compressor minimise clipping for me?

I was thinking the additional cab would mean I could set the gain lower, thus minimize clipping, that was my thinking. My guitarists both use single 412 cabinets, in case that wasn't clear, they are not running a pair of 412's each. I don't understand head room, I've been playing and touring...

Will a compressor minimise clipping for me?

I'm using more mids than ever before, it definitely helps

Will a compressor minimise clipping for me?

I'm only going by the clip light, I don't necessarily 'hear' anything, although once in a while I've heard the amp break up a bit when I hit real hard

Will a compressor minimise clipping for me?

I play a (Fillmore) Mosrite Mark 2 bass with very hot pickups and a Mexican Jazz with less hot pickups. I use a GK MB500 solid state head and go through a GK 4ohm Neo 410 cabinet. Both my guitarists run 50 watt heads through 412 cabs and our drummer hits relatively hard. On the last tour I...

    Limiter Switch -vs- Clipping

So clipping is bad, regardless of whether or not a limiter is used and should be avoided...the end?

    Limiter Switch -vs- Clipping

So are you saying using the limiter can harm the cabinet? Why do they have them then? What is their purpose if not to limit power and guard against too much power?

    Limiter Switch -vs- Clipping

I have a GK MB500 and I saw there is another thread on a similar subject, but I have a few specific questions regarding the limiter switch - does the limiter protect the amp / cabinet from clipping? Or is it irrelevant as far as clipping goes? What exactly does the limiter do? What is worst...

    clipping on a mb500

A few questions on clipping with the MB500: • will clipping (say every 10 seconds or so) damage the head or cabinet? • will typical clipping damage the head or cabinet with the limiter switch engaged? Does the limiter switch protect the amp / cabinet from clipping? • what happens long term if...

    clipping on a mb500

I run an MB500 through the 4ohm Neo 410, I play a Mosrite Mark II bass with very hot (passive) pickups, as well as a Fender Jazz bass. I too play quite hard as well with my fingers and tend to clip amps regularly. I find the Mosrite clips more often than the Jazz, but not enough to warrant the...

GK Neo 410 - Castor Problems

Currently on the road and one wheel keeps falling out of the castor on my 410, it's getting very old, very quick. Any suggestions to get me to the end of tour and permanent fix thereafter? Thanks

My Neo 410 blew up :( Cab Recommendations?

I just completed a 17 show tour with a GK Neo 410 (4 ohms) and pushed it hard every single night, I had some initial issues with the 'contour' knob on my head but once I dialled in the head (GK MB500) everything sounded loud and punchy with a good low end. I used to have an Eden...

GK Neo 410 Cabinet (quick review)

I didn't realize and ran it on bi-amp for 2 shows, so hopefully I didn't do any permanent damage to the cabinet or head. Guess time will tell

GK Neo 410 Cabinet (quick review)

Yeah I figured that out eventually haha, I'm not really big on gear and all the details, the Contour was at 12noon and everything sounded terrible. I couldn't understand why I had high end and then this muffled, pillow type sound bottom...was bizarre! Guess it helps to read instructions!

GK Neo 410 Cabinet (quick review)

Yeah...no worries. I used to play a Ampeg B2 (350 watts) and Classic 115 and Classic 210 cabs (8 ohms) back in the 90's, was relatively happy with them but was never in love with that setup. Personally I've always felt Ampeg has been overrated, especially for punk or straight up rock n roll...
