I have a GK MB500 and I saw there is another thread on a similar subject, but I have a few specific questions regarding the limiter switch - does the limiter protect the amp / cabinet from clipping? Or is it irrelevant as far as clipping goes? What exactly does the limiter do? What is worst case scenario with semi-frequent clipping using a GK Neo 410, 4ohms?

Limiter Switch -vs- Clipping

Limiters can't prevent 100% from clipping. Some amount of the signal remains always none limited till the point the limiter starts to "slowely" turn down the signal.
That said, limiters help to keep duration of clipping rather smallish.
What that all means for your 410 cab? Nearly nothing cause limiters can't protect woofers, To the contrary they can potentially harm woofers cause average power will be increased the more the limiter is "active".
But limiters can effectively protect HT's from to much of "dirty" energy instead of these get fried.

Wrong understanding of the limiter can harm a device.
For instance, a very powerful amplifier, lot's of bass boost, limiter is nearly steady "active", back to back there is a lot of average power at the lows which can become harmful for woofers cause there is no more "dangerous" signal audible.
Some folks use compressors as "protective" tool and therefore wreck woofers cause average power at lows is increased.

So clipping is bad, regardless of whether or not a limiter is used and should be avoided...the end?
To much of clipping is often harmful to all kinds of HT,
woofers are widely unfazed from this but there can be a harmful situation if VC cooling (cone excursion) and and thermal admission (average power) becomes an imbalance,
a "excessive" use of Limiters and/or compressors can cause this imbalance
