Who made the permanent switch to 5 Strings?

I do own a 5-string and play it from time to time, but mainly play my Spector Rebop 4 string, love me some Spector. We have such a wide range of song that I use a drop pedal and allows us to quickly move from song to song.

How many ***backup*** basses do you bring to a gig?

I don't bring it in, but have one in the band trailer

Bass Failure On a Gig (Poll)

Only thing I can think of recently is we had 2 nights back-to-back gigs and I did not change the battery in my wireless set, it died out at the end of a song, so just plugged in my trusty backup cable and was ready to rock. Always be prepared.

Threatened of being fired (from 2 bands) because I won't take a spare bass...

Wow, I see a lot of variation on how people would handle this. As a note I do keep a spare in the band trailer, luckily I do not have to ride a bus or train. I have used the same bass for the last 7-8 years, no issues, no broke strings. I get more issues out of the PA than my bass rig all...

Do all cabs feel like a compromise?

For the past 3+ years I have been using a Schroeder Cab, you can see them here on facebook (Schroeder Cabinets). Very well built, light and can handle the power. I love the tone it produces and is very clear. But it is a custom built cab. The only thing I see wrong with a light weight cab is it...

Best bag or case for cables/misc gear?

I guess this popped up as a new conversation as someone liked. I use two FATMAX 22 in. 4-in-1 Cantilever Tool Box Mobile Work Center. One for mic cables and extras and the other for light and power. Stanley FATMAX 22 in. 4-in-1 Cantilever Tool Box Mobile Work Center-020800R - The Home Depot

    Re-evaluating my amplification situation

The stage helps project your volume, so I would not raise or tilted the cabs. If we play outside on a solid floor I have a small riser I built to set my cab on. I'm in a 5 piece classic rock band and I use a GK1001 amp and a Schroder custom cab. Plenty loud for what it is, but to balance out...

    Singing over complicated basslines

I have only been singing a lot for the past few years and it is a learning process for sure. I do enjoy it a lot and sing lead on several songs now and back vocals on others.

Jason Aldean - My Kinda Party (Just Finished It)

Thanks a whole lot. My band just added it to the set list and it is a busy song needless to say. Oh and I love the use of tab numbers as the notes. Clean and efficient for everyone. Thanks again

When is it time to quit your band?

We just formed a new band from my old one and have been working out new members. One thing the old members have in common is we are a "everyone has say so". One of the people we tried out wanted it his way and it did not work. What I'm trying to say is there are two basic internal management...

Problem w/ Guitar Center Extended Guitar warranty

I have a few thing with them that have the extended warranty. I have not had to use it or have anything break either. If I remember right when are telling you about it that they cover all warranty work for the product even the manufacturers warranty. The reason they are telling you what they...

    New to the forum

I like you have not been playing bass long, about 2+ years for me. And yes it stands out and if you off key it's heard. You can get away with playing things a little differently in regards to covers but just be in the right key. I myself started with using a pick and have gradually move into...

Is this a good swap? SWR for 310C

I might have a chance to swap my SWR Silverado Special full stack for a Kustom 310C. Any opinions a about this. I will be gaining much needed wattage to deal with my guitarist. Does anyone know if it functions very well at lower volumes if I need it that way? I can play quiet just don't want...

but seriously, how loud is too loud? at a gig?

In my previous band with 2 guitars, bass, drums and lead singer we started out moderate volume and after a song or two check with the owners to get a sense. As the night goes on the volume grows anyways. With the new band, same configuration but with two Marshal half stacks it's going to be...
