All things EMG active! (And yes, the 9 vs 18v too)

What a strange choice for them to make. So are you saying it’s a knob style but is notched? So it clicks from from, into middle and then bridge? You physically can not leave the pot in. A position between? Or when you do the sound doesnt change till you get right in the middle? I am super...

Sure DW, there are a few variables in detecting the difference. First is how hard you play. I play pretty hard so the extra headroom and depth of note due to that makes a big difference to me. Also I find especially PUPs like the DC greatly benefit IMO from the 18v as its gives a little more...

Hello Brother✊😇 yes, exactly, the active balance control would give you a “normal” blend capability. So any point between 100% and 100% J is possible. Happy bassing🤌😉

Hey mate, no you get no insertion loss at all using the ABC or ABCx with their active or passive pickups. However you can not use the ABCX with passive pickups, only the ABC and the standard ABC does not play nicely with the X series. I will offer my option only here, it’s not gospel. I...

All things EMG active! (And yes, the 9 vs 18v too)

Hey buddy, no worries! Thanks for the message. 1: I really like a P in the bridge, especially the reverse coil (Spector style) like the 35 P is and the DC in the neck. It’s my taste though. I tend to use the balance between pickups a lot for my tone so enjoy a single or split in the bridge...

Nice one mate! Let me know how you rate the difference. I know for sure you will have a completely even volume across the blend sweep with the ABC, that’s for sure.

All things EMG active! (And yes, the 9 vs 18v too)

Hey mate, not specifically however if you just go on the EMG website and check out their BTC circuit setup diagram you would just use the 25k blend in place in the circuit where the abc is. I usually have the volume last before the output. Blend then tone then volume…..the order of knobs on the...

All things EMG active! (And yes, the 9 vs 18v too)

Hey Chris, Firstly it’s all EMG? All the pots and the pickups? And secondly why do you want to run a passive tone with the active BTC? Most commonly an active bass only has a passive tone for when you switch from active to passive so you still have a control over the tone (usually a high cut)...

All things EMG active! (And yes, the 9 vs 18v too)

Hey buddy You can get a pot from EMG that’s a 25k blend dual gang with centre indent without the op amps in it, it’s cheaper and is fine if you are committed to using active pickups with it. MEC also does one. I use the ABC primarily because once I decided on the EMG pre was going to be my pre...

All things EMG active! (And yes, the 9 vs 18v too)

Hello fellow bassfolk🤟🤓 Ok soooooo, I am what I would consider a now long time devotee to EMG (multiple basses with EMG and also now over 30 basses converted) I have become a bit knowledgable about certain things so I would like to offer some help to those using/considering EMG and even some...

Fat and Full P Bass pick up: DiMarzio DP127

Hey Stuferino, Yeah, if you do not want to modify the bass at all the DP127 or the DP146 are Killer P´s and then you got the Dimarzio area Jazz pickup as your only option to keep up With the high output of the P´s. Nowa days I am all EMG in all my basses. I am now an endorsee for GnL basses and...

    G&L Club Part 7

Awesome!! Even though I am a DR string player my fave flats are the TI and Ernie ball cobalt flats. They are both just such different strings. And don’t get me wrong the DR legends or Deep Talking are awesome authentic flats, I just love the original flavour and feel of the TI and Cobalt. Do you...
