There must be less cover bands than original bands

I think there's a difference between the type of area you live in... I always got the impression that Central areas of large cities: Far more original bands (younger set of musicians/younger crowd) Suburbs and smaller towns: More covers-playing bands (All the "inspired artists" move to the...

    Hammerons/Pulloffs/Slides - exercises and/or books?

That makes sense - but often when I try that, I end up playing these players' lines without using the techniques they're using. I end up playing them in my style, if you see what I mean, and I find it hard to break out of it! I know I should be more disciplined in that respect... I'd love to...

    Hammerons/Pulloffs/Slides - exercises and/or books?

I've realised recently that I tend to neglect using hammerons, pulloffs and slides in my playing (mostly rock/pop stuff ). I DO use them, but I think my playing would be more fluid if I used them more. When I admire another bass player, it's usually their heavier reliance on these techniques...

GK 800RB - stripped screw threads?

Just wondered if anyone had experienced this before or had any ideas on how to help... I've got a fairly old Gallien-Krueger 800RB and was hoping to take a look inside. So I tried unscrewing some of the casing screws (they're tiny, btw). Some of them unscrew... and some of them just keep...

    Peavey 4x10 cab ohm identification

I pulled out one of the speakers, and there wasn't a sticker describing ohms, just serial numbers (they're possibly replacement speakers - it's an old cab). I'm going to go with your explanation that '4108' makes it an 8 ohm cab. It makes total sense, as I can't think of another reason why...

    Peavey 4x10 cab ohm identification

Hi, I thought someone here might be able to help me with some specs... I've just picked up a Peavey 4 x 10 cab - it says it's a '4108 enclosure' on the back - secondhand and wondered if anyone could identify what ohms it runs at... I don't want to destroy it by getting this wrong! At the moment...
