Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

I'm using D'Addario NYXLs 45-125, but I prefer DR FatBeams 45-125. I've tried the DR Pure Blues in the past, too, butI keep coming back to the Fat Beams. I feel like they give me the broadest tonal pallet, they're flexible, and they're smooth-playing (for roundwounds).

NEW MESA TT 800 AMP. OH. MY. GOD.

I've been playing my TT800 for 4 years -- almost exclusively. Very happy. Great amp. Here are the things I would change: - I'm not a pro (i.e limited funds). Having two distinct FX loops means I have to prefer one channel or double my FX. Instead, I just run everything in front of the input...

Which DR strings for my 4-string Stingray with neck status?

I use Fat Beams on all of my basses except for my fretless which has Sunbeams. I think I tried Hi Beams once and I thought they were too bright. I've used RotoSound Swing Bass 66. I feel like Fat Beams are warmer and last a helluva lot longer - They typically last me 3 - 4 month. DR marketing...

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Short answer: On my BBP35, I use DR FatBeams FB5-45. Long rambling answer that I hope is useful to someone: These are my go to strings on all my fretted basses. I did not like the factory D'Addarios, and my first change was to DR Pure Blues. The D'Addarios were a little too bright and brittle...

Headphones for home practice and live tone setting with HX Stomp?

+1 on the ATH-M50's! I practice most of the time through headphones. I use the HX Stomp as an integral sound in my rig, but I love the tones that I get from my Mesa Boogie TT800. I once tried plugging in my iPad to the effects return configured as an aux input on the HX Stomp to play along...

    Line 6 HX Stomp

I figure a picture might help. Over time, I built up a pedal board. Not willing to sacrifice tone, I put an EH SwitchBlade Pro at after my tuner -- It bypasses everything but the looper and Freeze pedals with one button. I have my original pedals in the 'A' loop: POG, Enigma, Soul Food...

    Line 6 HX Stomp

Hi All... I'm new-ish to this thread, so pardon me if I'm rehashing something. I'm a gigging bassist in a classic (late 60's / 70's) rock band. Think late Beatles, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Bros., Elton John, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Heart, etc. Nothing too prog or...

NEW MESA TT 800 AMP. OH. MY. GOD.

Ugh... Yes, of course it's an HPF... Sorry about the typo.

NEW MESA TT 800 AMP. OH. MY. GOD.

These are pretty close to my settings, which I think let the character of my basses shine through. The difference for me in a band situation is I turn the deep and bright off, and I turn the bass and mid to about 2:00. I also bring the LPF to about 9:30. I like the the mids cut through the mix...

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

I ordered the 5-string American bridge pickup. I’ll find out in about a week or so. Thanks!

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Hi BB Friends. I asked about pickups last year, but I don't think I asked the right question... For those of you with a newer BBx35... the ones with the "standard" P & J pickups, does anyone know for sure whether the bridge pickup is the same size as Fender American 5-string Jazz Bass with...

NEW MESA TT 800 AMP. OH. MY. GOD.

I've been wrestling with this since I got my TT. I sometimes use a Darkglass Hyperluminal comp. There are three different "compressors" built in -- a FET, Sym, and Bus. I use the Bus compressor with a 75 comp /25 dry mix, medium comp threshold, attack, and delay. At bedroom volume and sometimes...

    I tried !

I got an HX Stomp a few weeks ago. I’ve only just begun exploring it. I started with some “essentials”: Pitch, Envelope filter, OD, comp, chorus, ‘verb, really cool reel2reel effect. The intent was to replace a pedalboard, which I like but I can live without. My favorite trick with the HX is a...

NEW MESA TT 800 AMP. OH. MY. GOD.

IME so far: Unless you really, really, try, it's hard to not get a good sound from either channel.

NEW MESA TT 800 AMP. OH. MY. GOD.

I'm sure I'm crazy, but I've noticed a substantial impact on the overall tone and response of the Boogie channel when I do exactly what @g-dude suggested... Start with the master set and adjust the gain. The impact on the tone stack with low volume (gain knob) feels dramatically different than...
