How many basses do you own? (Currently) Part 2

Take my opinion with a grain of salt because I am not a professional player, this is just a hobby for me and I consider my skill level to be amateur. That being said, I see the argument for 4-5 basses as a pretty sound one. 1 passive pbass, 1 passive jbass, 1 active more modern sounding bass...

That is a beauty! Tort guard on a sunburst is so underrated. I have a fender AVRI ‘54 P and once I swapped the tortoise guard it looked so much better.

Mine just arrived a few days ago too! It is awesome. These Bluesman thunderbird pickups sound awesome. I haven’t taken many photos yet and I’ll post a few more here when I take em. Tahitian Coral with light relicing, mint guard and rosewood board.

Man, hopefully you get yours soon, I'm just past the 1 year mark. I had a conversation with him a little over a month ago when it was going in for paint and just got this progress pic today. He said he has some relic work to do on it and then a final set up and it's good to go so he made some...

Unfortunately not yet. About a month ago John and I had a text exchange where he sent over the paint samples to make sure I was happy with the color. I also ended up adding a matching headstock. With all of the finishing touches that happen after the paint goes on he said it would ship in 4-8...

I use Labella LTF short scale on my v1 cat and they sound awesome. I've never used DR Legends but I have Chromes on another bass and they are much brighter to my ears than the Labella LTF.

    Walrus Audio Mantle

I don’t think running a cab sim before it is overkill at all, but definitely the mantle should be last in the chain. The mantle is going to take any signal you send into it and make it (at least to my ears) sonically fuller, rounder and more pleasant. I recently got an anagram and I’ve A/B a...

That pic is almost the exact set-up I have on order. Standard configuration is stacked volume-tone for each pickup, '62 jbass style.

Sorry, I don't know the exact measurements. When I talked to John on the phone for my custom build, he described them as a "typical" Jneck, pneck, and a pretty chunky neck that I wasn't interested in anyway. He did tell me that the necks are cut on a CNC and then shaped by hand so if I wanted...

    Help me pick a 54 precision re-issue!

So I have some bad news. I received the bass and it was stunning, near mint condition. I restrung it and played around for a while and it was sounding great but the action was too high and the neck had way too much relief. I went to adjust the truss rod and after about 2/3 of a turn it was...

I felt the same way when I saw the release but then I remembered how much I love mg800 as it is and said screw it. If I get the opportunity to upgrade at some point then great but for now I have an amp I'm super happy with and after trying so many amp's I wasn't super happy with, I'm just going...
