I have to say, the volume coming thru my big rig is incredible. This just doesn't have the grinding/gritty/growly sound. I'm working on it though. I may try Flats to see what they bring. Right now I'm playing D'Addario 1/2 rounds.

Looks like it may be a Greco made in the Matsasuko factory. I'm still working on this, but an earlier reply was the best, "if you like the play, it sounds good, you have a nice bass for little money".

What do you see that makes you think so? I really want it to be authentic!! Just have huge questions about the lacquer finish on the neck. No markings on the tuners. No insignia on the neck plate. Etc.

Dark Horse seems to have the best idea. I looked up the Fender/Matsumoku basses, and the look is the same as the one I bought. If you look closely at the neck, it is sort of crudely lacquered and a bit rough. All of my Fenders are smooth. Some of the other comments made here also have merit...
