Yamaha BB414. Great tone, very versatile. $400 and plays better than most basses twice the price, IMHO :)

Thanks bassman. Yeah, I was a one man show. Did the drums using Session Drummer2 on Sonar, sang it (with my very limited vocal capabilities), plugged my $100 Squier Bullet in for the rhythm guitar and then unplugged it and recorded into a mic for the acoustic. Nice to have the first one...

I have Vista x64, which unbelievably I've managed to make work well :) I use an E-mu 0404 USB 2.0 audio interface, which has great converters and has resulted in some quality recordings. I would also get a pre-amp too because you'll need the gain...I use a Studio Projects VTB-1 tube blend...
