Different version preamp tubes do have their own personality and will slightly change the sound. It’s all personal preference but tube rolling can be fun!

In theory it should help. But I’ve noticed that depending on the power supply design, it may slightly change the tone. The unit will only draw what current is needed but if it needs current and the supply can’t keep up it will effect tone.

JT here.. the pad can cut about 6dB which is usually enough for most onboard active preamps. It’s also very transparent. You can also install a 12AT7 in V1 if you require less gain on the input stage.
