The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

I have a hard time playing this guitar and I finally figured it out. The fret markers on mine are pretty close to the color of the neck wood, which means I am "searching" for the fret markers as I play which throws off my timing. I am looking for something to put my own markers on in a bright...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

I just got mine last night. Played it in church this morning. Way easy to tune. I do get a very audible high frequency hiss, with or without the active eq. Not sure what's going on there. That whole thing about using any length strings is something I hadn't considered. Finding short...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I doubt it. It is about 30" long. Hmmm... maybe.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Is there a special thread for the 5 string mikro? I play 5 string and I need all the same kind of info.

Brice HXB2 -- who has one?

I have two of the brice, the 405 and the 406. The 405 is my main player. The 406 is a pretty darned wide neck and I just put it away. I play the 5 string most often. I also have the little ibanez 5er which is a gas in its own way. I'd like to get the blue 405. It's a pretty color but $100 more...

New Brice HXB2 Basses - Rondo

I have the 3/4 5er and like it. I wish they'd sculpt the body at the top. It cuts into my wrist where it rests on the body. The stock strings are pretty darned bright sounding. I wish I could could get that sound in flats. I hate the buzz as i move around. Plus I just like the feel and play of...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

When I got my brice 5er I was going to have a tech go over the mikro 5er but haven't done that either. It's really just the low B that's a problem and I've discovered that many folks can't really tell on notes on that string / that low. So it kinda turned into a someday kinda thing.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Lol. Not every post. I did find the workaround but haven't given it a go. Didn't see the issue until I got my expensive flats strung. Then didn't want to try to get them off and back on. You know... Chicken.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I put labella deep talkin flats on my 5. They claimed they custom made them which I believe given it took about 6 weeks to get them. I had to shim the low B because it was just too long. The intonation on that string can't be set quite correctly. The saddle is as far back as it will go and...

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

BTW I just won (this morning) an ebay auction for the Link Removed, so obviously I don't have it in hand yet. I only paid $202 for it so it didn't cost a bundle. I bought the same Link Removed which I just received yesterday afternoon, then found this auction the day after I ordered the 5...

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

I have a Squire VI which I purchased recently. It's a cool little bass. The previous owner replaced the bridge with the Staytrem. Other than that it seems to be stock. I don't know how to play it since I have only played bass for a few years and only finger picked. I intend to pick it up...

Bass advice for disabled player? Looking for a 30- or 31-scale 5-string

Yes I do know. I bought the 4 string Ibanez Artcore (which I will be selling) before I started playing a 5 string. Now that I play the 5 string I will not go back to the 4 string. The 5 string ibanez is a very nice guitar, however the 3/4 size body is very desirable for me. My Ibanez 4...

Brice HXB2-405 RN 37 Nat Bubinga Extra Long 37" Scale "EarthQuake" Bass

I'd love to see a fanned fret 3/4 5 string short scale. I play a short scale because of wrist / elbow issues. It makes sense to me that the shorter the scale the more a fanned fret design would help the low B string.

Bass advice for disabled player? Looking for a 30- or 31-scale 5-string

I have wrist and elbow issues. The fretting hand rotation (pronation and supination) is limited and the elbow won't straighten. The net effect is that I have to play the instrument rotated up (like a standup), but the neck length (scale) still cannot be normal because I cannot angle the...
