Brice HXB2 -- who has one?

Watching/sub'ed since I've been looking at these for a while.
Has anyone put one of these on a digital scale???

The remaining Brice here is a $199 white set-neck Thunderbird clone that sounds and plays BETTER than the white Gibson I sold after the Brice and the Gibson had a head-to-head competition at a gig in a downtown Houston ballroom one night. The Gibson lost BIG TIME according to my ears, hands, and a Zoom H4 that was going for the whole gig.

Very unofficially a little over 8 pounds for the 30". That's bathroom scale weight.

After a week with the beast it is a lot of bass for the money. I agree the preamp is nothing to write home about, but it serves to add fullness to the already great sounding pickups.
One of the lightest 5 strings I've played, and already gotten some "color commentary". Lol, see what I did there? People like the color...
Hopefully rondo stocks them back in because I am afraid I got the last oceanburst for now...

That has to be the best looking bass for $299 that I've ever seen. Light weight and sounds decent? What a steal. Sadly I don't think I'll be getting one only because of the neck profile, darnit. :(

The necks are thicker than an Ibanez SR by a good margin. I like my SS, but it's definitely the thickest neck I own.

How would you compare the electronics to say an Ibanez SR305 or a SBMM Ray5? Strength, range of adjustments, etc! I picked those basses as a comparison just because of being close in price range and the most likely competition. I guess the ESP LTD B-205 could be thrown in there also.

The electronics leave a lot to be desired for sure. After a few months I stopped playing it and pretty much left it at the church as a back up. It’s gorgeous and it’ll push the subs at the church with the preamp on, but the neck is a tree trunk. It’s not warping, but it hurt. As they say YMMV.
Full disclosure I now mainly play a Schecter CV-5 that I picked up brand new for $400. It came with a few wiring problems but after $30 getting that fixed it plays and sounds awesome.

Front to back thick like a P. It takes a minute to get used to, but it's very stable. Holds tuning very well in Spring/fall weather when it's changing 20 degrees over a few hours. 6 bolt neck.

Ibanez has better active electronics, but I mostly use the passive setting. It's decent on the passive setting.

IMO if you're looking for a SS 5 string you're not going to find better unless you jump up quite a bit in price. I like mine quite a bit. I wish they made a 4 string SS I'd get one of those in a heartbeat.

I made some comments on the electronics back in Post #15. I still haven't gotten around to swapping out the pickups/electronics in it yet; one of these days...

Since the instrument would be returnable, I'd recommend that you order one and if you don't like it send it back for a refund. Granted, you'll pay shipping both ways, but Rondo's shipping charges are pretty reasonable.

I have two of the brice, the 405 and the 406. The 405 is my main player. The 406 is a pretty darned wide neck and I just put it away. I play the 5 string most often. I also have the little ibanez 5er which is a gas in its own way. I'd like to get the blue 405. It's a pretty color but $100 more expensive these days.
