    ALUSONIC aluminum instruments

Hi. Depends on a lot of things. Basically; Nothing sounds exactly like a Stingray (especially the new MM 18v special). I have owned 5 (I think) Rays, and tried lots more. You have the Original vs Ernie Ball problem, two or three way EQ discussion etc. My to stay Stingray (Stealth 4H) on arrival...

Pure Sound GR One 350 or 800w. A Step up from Markbass (I went from BH250 to LM3 to GR. Very precise and clear. Light weight cabs: I use the MB 102 traveller. 13kg. Again; precise, not too expensive.

    ALUSONIC aluminum instruments

I must admit I was seduced by bassporn. A fellow bassist sent me a picture and that was all she wrote. Luckily the bass (and Polly, the maker) is great.

They have two options: Solid aluminium body or wood with a big plate of aluminium set into the top. I have the plate option. You can easily see where the plate is inset on the upper parts of the body. The wood body (and I think the aluminium) is chambered somewhat because of weight. Much lighter...

    ALUSONIC aluminum instruments

Not asymmetrical (I think), but very easy to play. Same general feel as Stingray but comfortably less chunky. I would say sweetly between Jazz and Prec.

Thank You. Yes, with these pups in those places, 5way selector and active/passive anything is possible (except boring). Did I mention that the neck is slim (but not anemic), fretboard 1mm narrower than Stingray and the paintjob/frets/fretboard are perfect?

    ALUSONIC aluminum instruments

I got one this spring. None more Black Django (Picture) with active electronics (switchable), carbon rods in neck, black alu plate in front, side jack, 3 way EQ with center click. It has taken over for my MM Stingray Stealth as my main instrument. Low action, extremely stable neck. Very...

    Sterling vs Musicman, popcorn please.

A really interesting question. 40 years of playing has seen a lot of basses. The last 6 years only Stingray types, as they check all boxes. My Ray34 is a very good bass. My EBMM Stealth has a better neck and preamp. However, as soon as I got my EBMM, I had to change the pickup, because the...

    Music Man Stingray Fretless help

Old tread, but here is my experience: stingrays are different from each other. Some have weak spots, others do not. Must try before bying. When the whole string is weak (dead), that is not a resonance problem, It is the pickup. Some Stingrays have stacked poles (lower on the G and E): bad idea...

    What’s your favorite active bass?

Stingray Stealth 4H and Warwich Streamer stage 1 1984. Have had many bassguitars since around 1980, allways come back to the Stingray. The Streamer is a work of art, Stingrays are tools that Get the job done. Rock, hard rock, funk, disco.

    GR Bass Gear Questions?

Thanks, but I am in Europe. Probably will end up with a couple of GR 210 cabs. They seem to have a wider spectrum than the ones I have.
