I do like the sound, but more than that, I vastly prefer the feel against my fingers. My skin is fairly sensitive and even halfwound strings are like sandpaper. I never really build enough callouses for the discomfort to go away. At least flatwounds reduce that quite a bit.

I've got a EHB1005SMS and I'm thinking I'd like to restring it with flatwounds. Does anyone have a suggestion for flatwound strings that fit well?

I love my EHB1005SMS more than any of my other basses, because of the ergonomics. The balance is good, but the body is heavier than the neck. A wide strap does a good job keeping it in place, but I'd like it more if it were even better balanced. However, it's my favorite by far <3

    Schaller "S" locks.

yep, I gotta dig out my calipers so I can figure out what sizes I should order. I might update the Ibanez wiki with the thread sizes, just so other folks won't have to do the same removal.

I think the main concern isn't the overall weight so much as the balance. Being headless, the neck already wants to climb more easily than on most instruments, but adding more weight to the body will amplify that.

    Schaller "S" locks.

Schaller sells a few sizes of the buttons (where the size is only different on the thread diameter and length). However I'm not sure which size(s) I need for my basses. I recently bought an Ibanez EHB which includes S-locks installed from the factory, but I have 3 other basses I wouldn't mind...

the grey looks so good too. I went for the green just because 'punch of color' and 'probably less popular, therefore more interesting down the road'. but I really love the silver :)

I'm not familiar with either John East, or with Dingwall. I did some searching before asking, because it wasn't completely clear to me what I'm looking for. Especially with Dingwall where it seems like the Chinese-made parts are common and the Canadian-made parts are less common. They don't...

I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure they picked plastic to try to keep the weight down, but I don't love the feel. I'll see if I can find these. EDIT:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WHJ7N4K and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B3XH3B9V Oh so there are a few good options, then? Can...

Here's a photo of my favorite 3 basses, including the new EHB shortscale in the middle. Also, I do NOT normally leave the EHB hanging like that, it don't believe it is secure. But I let it hang for long enough to get a shot, to compare the size.

I'd love that! Maybe one of your components will fix my issue. Can we take it to PMs?

Whereas I specifically like the color (and bought one). but I agree it would be better to have more color options. As an aside, has anyone had issues with the Schaller S-Lock buttons that are installed on the EHB stock? Because the one near the bridge will not seat either of the S-Locks...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I might not be able to help but, that's the kind of string set I'd want to put on my own miKro (once I have one). I'm also looking at the short scale version of the EHB1000, but it's a bit steep for my wallet at the moment.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

yep, there's no need for them to be super accurately mounted, since the position (and straightness) of the tuner post (where the string wraps) determine the absolute length of the string. Rotation of the tuner will only change the ergonomics of turning the tuner. But a few degrees of rotation...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much. The rotation of the tuners shouldn't change the angle or length of the string, so it's really a question of the ergonomics. If you can use the tuners, and they are mounted firmly to the headstock, I wouldn't try to change them. Now if you wanted...
