IMO 3m adhesive remover is best.at least it is what i use. it is safe for most applications on cars i know i dont think it will hurt anything. or at least i wouldn't be afraid to try it on my bass.

+1 i agree totally.. i have made this mistake too many times and know that the unexpected should be expected. even if you are not a touring player the hard case is way better than a gig bag. even if it clutters up your house you wont have to worry about transporting your gear..
