Should I sell my pbass hardcase?

I just got a used am std pbass 09 and it came w a pretty nifty hardcase. Thing is, I prolly be using my regular gigbag since the hardcase is too bulky to carry around.

Im not a touring musician so my bass doesnt fly across continents at all. Im thinking of selling it to fund new pickups for my bass.

Is there any reason I should keep it? If Im selling it, how much is it worth?

Always sell off any extra gear that you don't need right now. Otherwise you end up storing it all around the house and it looks cluttered as well as being a tripping hazard. And be sure to get rid of the stuff at a give-away price, even if it is just like new. Then someday down the road when you find out that you actually need the stuff you sold, you then have the fun of searching music stores, online sellers and ebay for the same type of item. Which you will have to buy again at an inflated retail price, plus shipping. That's what I do.:hmm:;):hmm:

When I go to rehearsals I use a gig bag...but for actual gigs I use the hard shell. It's easier to pack in the van. Plus it lessens the risk of getting stomped on or knocked over. If you ever decide to sell it. The case is always a plus.

I bought a bass that came with a case. I used it a couple times but it was way more than I needed so I went back to my nice gigbag. The case sat around for about a year, untouched except for having to wipe the dust off periodically. I finally got tired of looking at it so I sold it on CL. I haven't missed it at all.

If I'm selling a bass without a case I just set the price accordingly, just as I'd set it accordingly if it had a case. It's obviously not going to be the same price and it's never been an issue for me.

I prefer to use the gear I have rather than store it for a rainy day but it sounds like I'm in the minority here.

Everybody else has given good reasons, listen to them. I can almost guarantee that if you get rid of it, you will live to regret it.

+1 i agree totally.. i have made this mistake too many times and know that the unexpected should be expected. even if you are not a touring player the hard case is way better than a gig bag. even if it clutters up your house you wont have to worry about transporting your gear..
