Marcus Miller never seemed to need one but most of us do. I use gig bags but I have all my cases stored. This is a TB debate that will never end. Can anyone say neckdive? Do what you want,it's your case and bass.

You seem to be hostile and I am not. I cannot control 100% of the time what happens, so I'm not going to make a statement saying: "if you buy a great bag NOTHING will ever happen." However, I will say that I do play out and tour. I think that the Reunion Blues stuff is great and is just as protective as the case that comes with the Fender originally.
Not hostile at all - I just think you're doing others a disservice by trying to claim that ANY gigbag will provide the same level of protection as this:

...which is what the OP is specifically talking about... or, any decent quality, properly fitting hardshell case...
Furthermore, are you saying that you use a gigbag to tour with??? I play out pretty much every weekend, often both friday and saturday - and have atleast 30 years of gigging experience... I've seen an awful lot of instruments over the years that have been damaged in a gig bag - mostly dings and tuning keys, but sometimes much worse - that would've been fine, had they been in a properly fitting hardshell case...

Ok, I am not claiming that ANY gigbag is good for gigging. I have said that Mono bags and Reunion blues stuff is good for that.
Maybe I just had bad luck with the case mentioned but I have owned 3 MIA Fenders with that series case and all three of them busted or the interior separated from the shell part. I actually really hate those cases.
Here's a Reunion Blues video:

A 30-40 dollar gigbag WILL NOT offer the same protection.

I wasn't trying to infer that you were talking about "any" gigbag - I know that the ones you mentioned are some of the best out there... The point that I was trying to make is that I don't believe that even the best gigbag in the world will provide the same level of protection as a good hardshell - YMMV...
I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, and no hard feelings on my end, bud...
