Should I sell my pbass hardcase?

Keep the case. I am one of those that will not buy a bass that does not come with the original hard case and there are quite a few of us out there. ;)

While no case is not a default deal breaker, it has to be a killer deal or something out of production I want really bad to consider a bass without a case.

Those foam and fabric case like things don't count as a HSC and an included gig bag might as well not be as far as I'm concerned. There have just been too many times when an HSC has saved my bass when a gig bag would not have for me to ever trust one. I've got a couple of mexi j basses and only one case so I keep the one I'm not using at the time in a gig bag to keep the dust off of it, but I'll swap them out if the backup leaves the house.

Keep the case.

If you have a Reunion Blues gig bag sell the freaken hardcase it will not protect your bass better than a Reunion Bag go on their web site and watch them throw a Strat off the top of the Building into the parking lot .Sold me... I never use the Hard case anymore. My bass never needs retuning when I arrive to play. That is amazing.

Here's how you can decide for once and for all:

1) Take your favorite bass and put it in a gig bag.
2) Put the gig bag with the bass in it across the arms of a chair, head on one arm and the body on the other.
3) Sit in the middle of the gig bag.
4) Remove the bass from the gig bag and try to play it after the neck broke.

All my basses have their own dedicate hard cases and I only have a couple of gig bags left from the basses I bought that came with them new. I gave a few bags (which are really about as good as a Hefty Bag anyway) to people who thought they would protect their uncased basses as good as a hard case.

Keep the case, hands down. Down the road if you DO start playing more, you're gonna want that hardshell. Put it in your closet for now so you forget you want to sell it, and save money for the pickups the old fashioned way.

I wouldn't do it. I've nothing against good gig bags for lighter transport needs, but I prefer hard cases overall as far as protection goes. Besides; having an original factory case can be a plus if you decide to sell your bass in the future as others have pointed out before me. Do what you want to do as it is your case, just as long as you don't think you'll have any regrets about selling it.

I love those '08+ American Fender SKB cases, they stack and store great. I've already replaced most of my older tolex/tweed Fender cases with them, and swap out the ones I haven't with one of the new ones when I take the basses out gigging.
However, you can buy one brand spankin' new for $129 from GC. What is a used one worth, maybe half that or so?

Why bother selling it? That said, PM me if you decide to! ;)

These are the best hardcases in the business, at the moment.

Previously I would have said the EBMM cases, which are still great and have the Musicman logo, but these new Fender cases make buying a MIA P bass a 'good' idea.

Over here in the UK they are around £130.

I am one of those who does not buy second hand basses unless they have the case (even if its not the greatest case in the world).

All my basses apart from my VERY cheap £60 'around the house' bass have proper hardcases.

I have a Mono gig bag, which is great for rehearsals when IM carrying the bass. Touring or busy gigs, USE THE HARDCASE!

Seriously, they are very good cases. Keep it.

Right now 3 of my basses have HSC's because thats how they came to me (2 vintage Peaveys and a Carvin). I have the others stored in gigbags but I plan on getting 1 or 2 generic cases for when my band starts playing out since the basses I plan to use for the majority of the gigs are the ones that dont already have 'em.

Dont sell the one you have!

Well, because you said it I guess it's true. :smug:

I've had basses get damaged even when in a hardshell case. Those "great gigbags" are better than any standard HSC.

Yeah, and your "damaged" bass would've been destroyed if it were in a gig bag...

Give it up, your statement was wrong - I doubt you'll find any actively gigging bassists that agree with you on this one...

Regardless of what you're trying to pass off as truth, a properly fitting hardshell case will always provide more protection than ANY gigbag...

You seem to be hostile and I am not. I cannot control 100% of the time what happens, so I'm not going to make a statement saying: "if you buy a great bag NOTHING will ever happen." However, I will say that I do play out and tour. I think that the Reunion Blues stuff is great and is just as protective as the case that comes with the Fender originally.
