So I have a 70's reissue P-Bass. It is heavy, I usually get shoulder discomfort when I wear it and it has neck dive.
But I got some Gotoh Res-O-Lites and installed them, and man, what a difference. You wouldn't think tuning machines would completely alter the balance of a bass but they absolutely do. I had to drill some new holes but I already installed a string tree aftermarket and it is very much a player bass, so I wasn't worried about it.
It's far more comfortable with the res-o-lites than the stock Fender 70's machine heads.
I will be curious to see how it feels when I get the hipshot hi mass bridge off there for the standard vintage bridge.
