Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately m WT800 does not play well with my DNS cabs. If I use them with one channel there isn't quite enough wattage there to have the headroom I like. If I run it bridged there is WAY too much power for them.

I have had a Mesa D800. My colleague has one of the GK D class amps. I've heard him play many times. I do love my basses, Modulus Quantum 4, J and P basses. I love them all through my David Eden WT800. My WTP900 is pretty great too. I'm playing them through a 410. I love my DNS112 speaker...

I forgot to mention that I had a Mesa Subway D800. It was a solid amp just not my favourite flavour. I also prefer something with a simple EQ. Nothing parametric. The D800 was good that way but it just didn't fit right. I'm leaning toward the Forte for simplicity.

Unfortunately there isn't anywhere nearby to try these amps. I'm in a small town in Ontario, Canada. There is much less selection in general than I imagine some of the guitar centres and Sweetwaters of the states have. We do have a nation wide giant chain that I suspect might be similar to...

That's great news. I use 2 DNS 1x12s. Love these cabs. Just need a good amp to drive them. I will definitely consider the 400D to do so. Thanks!

If I may ask, have you found the output sufficient for medium sized bar gigs. That's pretty much all I play anymore but I'm still looking for a quality sound in those situations. I like the idea of this amp but my local retailer told me that this amp wouldn't keep up. The 800 is out of my price...
