The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Found a 1978 Mustang (for the same price as a new JMJ) and if it has a thicker neck it might be interesting. The question is what are these 1970's Fenders like? Have read somewhere that they were more instruments for students? What that means in terms of quality?

Thanks, I will definitely consider a Sire U5 and maybe the Banshee.

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Aha, thanks! My precisions weigh under 8.8 lbs so not that heavy. Guild Starfire II looks interesting. Maybe also Eastwood, but there seem to be many to choose from? Starfire II vs. Warwick RockBass Star Bass, Starfire I? Maybe the Allen Woody Rumblekat?

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Thanks, that's good to know. The problem with many short scales is that they have too thin a neck for me. Are there alternatives to JMJ? Sterling? G&L?

Nice! Any idea how this compares to the JMJ Mustang? Is the neck wide, round, thick? Seems to be hard to find someone to test.

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Thanks, looks nice! My budget is what I need to pay for a good bass so if possible around $1500. The Stanley Clarke Spellcaster seems to cost more. I've also had a Squier 60s and it's ok, but I'm thinking something "better". Have looked at Bill Wyman's gear page and got some tips. Looking for a...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Hi! The question may have been asked before, correct me if so. I want to buy a short scale bass to complement my Fender Precision, mostly to rest my back when playing a lot. Had a Fender MIM JMJ Mustang before that was perfectly fine. Like that the neck wasn't as thin as other Mustangs. Maybe...

    pickguard for a single coil?

I have a precision bass with a standard split-coil pickup but will change it to a single coil in the "right" position (telebass). Does anyone have a template for a "standard" precision (not tele) bass pickguard with the correct measurements for a single coil pickup (tele bass)? Planning to...

    Tele/scpb-pickup modification

Hi! Sounds good that the sell Burns Trisonic single coils with 6,7l ohm. Maybe you can send me a link here or private to that store and product? Aha, do you have an example of "a scratchplate cut for single coil instead of split or a custom mudbucker cover"? Thanks for your help!

    Tele/scpb-pickup modification

Hello! I have two p-basses, but am thinking of modifying one instead of selling it and bought a telecaster-bass. And I know there is no limit to how many basses you can have, but I don't like too much stuff and the bass to be modified is nice to play on (Tokai PB60), but mostly play live on my...

    Fender Rumble Club

Hello! Thanks for the welcome and many thanks for your explanation and tips on how I can set the sound! The tweeter was on and I have now set the EQ according to your explanation and it sounds better than before. I will test with small adjustments based on that. :)

    Fender Rumble Club

Hi, sorry if someone has asked this question before (and many times before that) I have a Fender Bassman TV15 with dark warm vintage sound that I like. I bought a Fender Rumble 200 yesterday to avoid carrying my heavy bassman for smaller gigs and jams. Do you have any tips on good basic setting...
