I have two p-basses, but am thinking of modifying one instead of selling it and bought a telecaster-bass. And I know there is no limit to how many basses you can have, but I don't like too much stuff and the bass to be modified is nice to play on (Tokai PB60), but mostly play live on my Fender (CS63).
The modification requires a new hole for the pickup, but the problem for me is finding a pickup I like. Have tried a few different "scpb" basses/pickups, but think they sound too bright. For example Lundgren Vintage, the standard pickups in Squier Classic Vibe Precision 50's, Fender Sting signature and Fender Japan Precision '51 Reissue (2007).
Here is a sound sample I like (I understand that the amplifier also matters), and even if the sound on video is top, it is the type of sound I'm looking for, for that kind of music.
Any tips on pickups and amps to achieve this? I play mostly on a Fender Rumble 100, Fender Bassman TV15 or sometimes Ampeg SVT Classic on larger gigs. What would you say the big difference is between an original 50's and the above pickups?
I think the answer is to find someone who can wiring a pickup so it sounds like a vintage original 1950´s, then I'll solve the hole
The best would be with a mudbucker shape, instead of a classic scpb.

Head to eBay/Ali-Ex and search for 51 single coil , there's a host of sellers offering a 6.7k ohm, cloth push back, string wrapped alnico for around the $15 - $20 mark; they were $8 when I bought mine.
