I used to bring two, my Modulus Q5 and my Ibanez SR05 fretless. But I'd get bass players coming up at the end of the gig, looking at the Q5 and saying "Oh ! It's got frets !! It sounded like a fretless". Must've been the way I played it. :rolleyes: So ... I started leaving the fretless at home...

Yep. Candy Apple Red. I only have one this colour now but this one Was my latest choice. Bought a Marcus Miller V7 in CAR just last year. My best bass however is Turquoise it was the only Q5 in the shop... I learned to love it ;). If it were Turquoise Stain over a nice grain it would be better...

I use theInvalid Link Removed, the SpectraComp TonePrint in my BG-250 12, cheap Invalid Link Removed, and another cheapo Invalid Link Removed. None of them on all the time but the Compressore and the TonePrint I do use a lot.

Nut width has never bothered me. I've happily used used both wide and narrow. Bridge spacing affects me a lot though. As I mentioned earlier in this thread (#137) I do have a couple of narrowish ones and the narrow spacing hits me hardest when changing over from a wider spaced bass. My finger...

I don't like spacing under 17mm though I'm OK from 17mm to 20mm and my hands are fairly small. My 5s fretless has 16.5mm and I'm fine with it but the matching fretted feels a little cramped, I've gigged it but moving to it from a wider bass I really notice it. 34" scale on a low B is a lottery...

I had the black graphite nut fixed on my Modulus by a good local luthier. His solution was powdered pencil lead and superglue. Well there's SOME graphite in there... Hasn't been a problem since and that was done 20 years ago.

Modulus Q5 has been my #1 bass since '93. The EMGs on it have a nice range of tones and the build is so stable she usually comes out of the case in tune and ready to go. I have two Ibanez SRs with J-type pickups. The fretless has Strat type pickups mounted underneath the EMG-Js as hum cancellers. I didn't map out the wiring while I was in there. Didn't think of it at the time... :o
