    Hollowbody Bass Club!

Hello! I've just bought a Yamaha SA70, now anxiously waiting for it to get to me. Soon I will be a member! Meanwhile, here's a pic from the seller: Does anyone know offhand if these run short or medium strings? The neck is short-scale for sure.

    Official Tobias Club

Hello! I have recently joined the Tobias-neck-but-no-matching-body club. Picked up a Tobias Renegade 4 neck on ebay (neither I nor the seller had any idea what it was, had to do a bit of sleuthing after I got it), and now I'm looking to find a body for it because the neck is awesome. Anyone have...

Another Ebay bass, no idea what it is...

It's a Burns or very close Burns knockoff. Check this auction, same type pickguard and inlays: linky In other news, I still have not received it in the mail :(

Another Ebay bass, no idea what it is...

Going to look for a matching one. Looks like a fairly standard bass mini-humbucker, I've seen a few on ebay that look to be the right size.

Another Ebay bass, no idea what it is...

The "bridge" is a bent piece of sheet metal with some holes, and a pair of saddles with the wrong string spacing. It's getting replaced with a 4-saddle machined unit ASAP. Also, the neck is pretty bent, but I am gambling on the truss rod being able to take care of it.

Another Ebay bass, no idea what it is...

Already snatched it up, sadly it was over $30 :/ In any case, I'll post more disassembled pics once I get it. Still no luck googling for old Peavey bass models...

Another Ebay bass, no idea what it is...

Just picked this up after GAS struck again: The neck reminds me of a Peavey, but I wasn't able to find one like it anywhere. No ID marks anywhere on it. Does it remind any of you of anything?

the official "Show your basses" thread part 12

Wow, you're right. Same two-screw bridge, other details look similar. I got mine off ebay with the front and back sanded and stained... no ID-able thing of any sort. Any ideas about who made yours? Can't really judge it in terms of sound yet, especially because the pickups aren't exactly...

the official "Show your basses" thread part 12

This is my WIP Japanese short-scale jazz bass... Since it's about 45 years old, I guess you can call it a relic finish :p. I routed out the original pickup cavities to fit mini-humbuckers, re-wired it, did some neck tweaking, and put it back together. Also had a bit of fun on the back...

Any idea what this bass is?

Allright, well, the bass is in my hands now. How do you guys feel about project threads? So far, it seems like the Previous Doofus mounted the nut with JB weld that didn't have enough hardener in it, leading to a bunch of goop. The neck is in good shape, the clear isn't even worn off the back...

Any idea what this bass is?

Maybe, but if there's a bass made to be relic'd into oblivion, it's this one!

Dark Horse - thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Having a look through the Japanese lawsuit bass thread, this looks similar:

Any idea what this bass is?

Ha, none taken. I have no grand delusions about it being an undiscovered relic of a golden age. (although that would be nice!)

Any idea what this bass is?

Hello! I'm new! I mainly build and tweak guitars, but have decided to pick up a project bass after half a bottle of wine and an excursion onto eBay. So, I picked this up for 50 bucks and don't know what it is. It's short-scale (30") and looks like a jazz bass copy, but that's as far as I...
