this is odd...considering every bass player Ive spoken to in years past has told me they have no issue with reconing their cabs. I overstand there are ported and sealed cabinets. But what is this science behind it??? Ive tried to address this in other threads and been met with 1 positive...

trying to pinpoint this. Some have suggested bass setup issues, however my bass ( Squier Jag bass mod) sound fine in all other rigs.

honestly it has no problem at any volume. I have boosts on the volume and tone controls of my bass. Have a Yamaha D-Bass combo, sounds perfectly fine and boomin with it (Squier Jag bass mod). Im getting the metallic clipping sound even at 3-7 on the master volume control.

so basically Im trying to build a rig. Got a speaker box (no big name company, Alumi-Pro) with a 800 watt busted speaker cone. Took the cone out and put a new 400 watt/4ohm Carvin 15 inch woofer in it. Got a nice Craigslist steal with a Carvin BX500 head, rated of course at 500 watts. Hooked...
