Eminence Speaker Rattle

no. haven't played through the three new ones, just ye olde neos I'm replacing... I don't want to break the seal on these yet, so to speak. Using someone else's backline tonight so I'm OK for the moment.

I do know from past experience that whenever I hear that click-click sound on the cone push I also hear slight buzz anomalies when the speakers are at work, and the amount of buzz seems directly related to the amount of cone scrape from the coil on the push test.

Perhaps contacting the manufacturer would be a good idea.

Those new speakers might be from a bad batch.

I'm having the same problem with one of the speakers in the 410 Neo I just bought. It's definitely producing a rattling sound when certain (mostly low) frequencies are played at just about any volume. I'll try the methods suggested here tomorrow, hopefully something will work so I don't have to dish out any more cash!

Will putting cotton balls directly on the cone not affect the sound at all?

As for me, I'm confused as to what exactly it is that i need to do.

If I'm aiming to get rid of some slack on the tinsel lead (the silver lead, right?), then am i trying to bend the metal #2 upwards and away from the cone? (seems sort of hard to bend.. maybe with pliers?)

i don't have the time to unscrew the grill and speaker again, so please bear with me on this one.

Zombie thread, but I just noticed something that might illuminate a similar problem I'm having. I have my speaker cabinet leads connected to the vertical prongs listed as "1". Is this incorrect? Should I be connecting them to the horizontal prongs listed as #1?

I took of the grill on my Sunn 215BH and noticed the speakers were back firing into the cabinet, popping back as opposed to in. The speaker leads are white and black and connect to my Eminence Kappa 15LFA's as white > + and black > - .

I'm getting a gnarly rattle on certain notes my droptuning, CGCF. Can anyone help?

Whether you have them on the horizontal or vertical prongs doesn't matter, but those types of connectors are notoriously unreliable. You could pull them off the prongs, crimp them a little tighter with some pliers and push them back on, or better yet just solder the suckers on there.

My emenince Basslite C2515 had the same problem. I just bent the tabs like Bill said, no problem now.

Sounds like a similar problem Im having

Got a bass cab..took out the older woofer and installed this:

I was wondering if I had a problem similar to asad's....getting crazy clipping/metallic vibration on the lower end frequencies (especially the 7th-12th frets). Thought it was an issue of my head (Carvin BX500) being more powerful than my woofer. But everyone is telling me Im crazy for just putting a new cone in. The crossover seems to be fine. But still getting a rattle....

trying to pinpoint this. Some have suggested bass setup issues, however my bass ( Squier Jag bass mod) sound fine in all other rigs.
