Build Quality Difference? 1999 vs 2020 Fender Artist Series

I'll look him up on YouTube. It would be cool to hear him play, and maybe get an idea of what his bass sounds like. I called my local guitar center, but they don't have one on hand to try out. I'll call a few more places before I decide. Tony Franklin, huh? You learn something new...

Build Quality Difference? 1999 vs 2020 Fender Artist Series

That bass is sharp! I like that it has the p-j setup...best of both worlds. Is there an advantage to having a 3-way switch vs a knob to control the pickups? Or is it in keeping with the aesthetic of the bass?

Build Quality Difference? 1999 vs 2020 Fender Artist Series

Cool, thanks man (thumbs up!) I've seen TBers dropping that name a few times, but I'm not familiar with Tony Franklin or his basses. I'll have to do some diggin'. Most of what I've read has been positive though.

Build Quality Difference? 1999 vs 2020 Fender Artist Series

Hey guys...long time member, but I haven't posted in a while. IMO, this is the best forum for all things bass. With that said, is there a major difference in build quality between the Fender Artist Series basses built in 1999, versus the ones built now, in 2020? I ask, because back in 1999, I...

^Awesome. Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. Especially these days, where spending money has taken on a whole new meaning for me.

Reliable, Deep, Low End Bass: GK 700RBII or GK 800RB?

Well, I've searched, read, and now I have somewhat of a better understanding when it comes to Gallien Krueger heads. Seems like I can't go wrong with picking one up. But, I'm still relatively fresh to bass amp technology. So here's my question: Which GK head would be more reliable while...

Double Bass Help with Kay Bass Appraisal

Hey Guys, I posted a classified ad in the for sale section for a 1949 Kay Bass. I probably should have done this prior to posting the ad, but can anyone give me an idea of how much my bass is really worth? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Here's the link...

*SOLD* FS: Genuine Kay Bass Viol (1949)

I have a Genuine Kay Bass Viol for sale. According to its serial number, it was manufactured in/around 1949. Because of it's age, the finish is a bit rough in some spots. But, it sounds great, even though I never had it professionally set up. I'm sure if it were set up proper, it would...

    Done with bass for awhile

I was in your shoes too, and sold all of my equipment. Had to pay rent somehow! This was back in 2006/2007. Sometimes, a break is good. It gives us time to reflect on what's important in life. Just remember, you can always rebuild, and pick it up again in the future.
